Alternator Belts: does "wrap" matter?

you seem to have the std Volvo add alt kit but 110 rather than 60a
change the the drive to either twin pulley or see if you can get a toothed <timing belt> this is what volvo did on the 2030 etc and csn be retro fitted dont know if you can get the same for the 22
There seems to be some confusion creeping into this thread. The original poster's engine does have an additional alternator kit, but that's where the 24v alternator is fitted. The 110A is in the standard place, instead of the original alternator.

As for toothed timing belts (also known as synchronous belts), Volvo didn't use these on the 2030 - all the 2030s I've seen have ordinary V-belts. Maybe you're thinking of the later engines (D2-55 etc) which in many markets use flat multi-V belts (as used on most cars now). Volvo's introduction of this coincided with their decision to fit 115A alternators as standard equipment in many markets, and they very sensibly upgraded the drive system to cope.
