I need a new bimini/spray hood/lazy bag and owing to a degree of tardiness by the Greek authorities (far too long a story to go into), only now am I in a position to place the order. However, Waypoint can't fit me in until July at the very earliest, otherwise September. As a commercial vessel, it's really a very bad idea to spend the first half of the season looking like another company's livery :( Is there anyone else in the area I could look at? I know Waypoint are the best and that's why they're booked up, but it's rather frustrating in a situation that was beyond my control

I'm not sure their the best at anything but over charging .
It's the only company that seen to think it's ok to use an high pressure washer to clean sails .
Their rigging test is unbelievable just three months after a friend had his check , he lost his mast ,
Top mast plate came apart .

Thanks, I've dropped them a line :)

I'll check out the Friends of Levkas page too
I'd have a word with sailmaker Mark , he's always been very efficient and reasonably priced for doing any work for us , he will collect your stuff by arrangement and is on 06937585364, no connection other than happy customer over a number of years

There's always Horatio Todd in Vlycho, or rather his wife who does canvas work. Tel +30 26450 95184.
or
Yacht Shelter (Takis Paspalidis) in Levkas. Tel+30 26450 20230
or
Gill Phillips (near Nydri). Tel+30 26450 41292

There are others but not necessarily recommended. Good luck at this time of year!

Mike

Don't go for Waypoint. I've had only bad experiences with them. Asked to extend my spinnaker sock in October requesting it to be ready the following April. I wrote them an email 2 weeks before arriving Cleopatra,. They wrote back no problem, the sock will be there. Got there, no spinaker sock. It was being ordered! 3 weeks later they wrote the sock was available. I was off course already gone by then. Come July and I am back in the area. They gave me a cheap replacement sock. That was 8 months after giving them my sock to have it extended. My original expensive sock had just disappeared and nowehere to be found. They also wanted more money than in the initial proposal. I filed complaint with the CEO of company. I never got a valid apologic response. Overall my impression is that they are very arrogant, over priced, under performing and just plain dishonest. I certainly will not go back to them. I later saw them rigg the boat next to us. Seeing how they worked I would certainly not trust my rigging to them. Fair winds and stay safe.

Jostro Sorry to hear that .
I think I am pretty fair when it comes to reporting stuff here I have damed waypoint in the pass because for experience and many other people I know experience We had with them , I have done the same about brokers around lefkas many others have done so too ,
so I just can't understand why people will keep using there bad company's, I started to think us who had. As experience which these company are just wasting our time warning other off here .
I hope you get it sorted .
Just something a friend email me the other day , waypoint have quito him 5k for new rigging 3k for a new furling and 6k for new sails on a 40 foot boat , ok I know there different types of sails but the rest is almost standard stuff and that without having the mast removed .
Make what you like out of that .

+1, cannot recommend them either.

We bought our yacht in Preveza it having been sailed and 'Professionally maintained' in the 1-onion and whilst reading through the file of invoices that came with the yacht, for over €12k of work that'd been done in the preceding three years - most of it by Waypoint - we were staggered by how much the previous owner'd paid for what we saw as straightforward/DIY tasks, they'd not even been done as immediate/emergency works to justify the cost, most all seeming to have been instructed/undertaken as and when over the winter months.
As our ownership stretched into weeks/months and eventually years we've also come to coin phrase arising from all this 'professional maintenance' that Moon Rebel endured: Anything that now fails as a result of penny-pinching or cut-corners is referred to as being yet another 'Greek Job', as despite being charged top-€uro for everything, much of the workmanship and materials, most particularly anything 'hidden away' have invariably been second rate at best.

I had a new bimini and spray-hood made two years ago by DL Sails at Gouvia, Corfu. A little out your way perhaps, but I can certainly recommend them.

I used Yacht Shelter to make a repairs alterations to a sail. I found them to be fast and effective. I did wonder why it takes three guys to come out to pick up a sail and measure a bolt rope slot though. Anyway, they were well priced and easy to deal with. Mentioning because they also do boat canvas work.

+1 for Yacht Shelter, they made a new lazy bag and spray hood for us last winter. Not significantly cheaper than Waypoint, but helpful, friendly, good quality and produced on time!
