Hi all

So one of my engine mounts is knackered.

Volvo prices are eye watering (£500)as the design has been updated so I need the whole unit with adjusters etc...

I have found a mount by av components that looks just like the original but I can't figure out which to go for. Engine and gearbox weigh 823 kg (61a and IRM 220a) the mounts being changed are rear mounts which take the most load.

Volvo spec the shore hardness at 60 (as long as that is what SH60 means on their website)

AV components do one with 55 SH good for 600kg max or one at 65SH good for 800kg. There should be 3mm compression under static load which I will only know when in place which is a bit late!

AV components have advised 55SH based on reckoning 300kg will go through each rear mount.

The price is about £70 each!!!

What does the panel think.

It collapsed. I only know as I noted all mount covers are not parallel anymore and volvopaul said it had (he's currently on tour over here!!)

Strangely, when I undid the shaft, everything still looks well lined up by eye at least. The mounts have done there job!!

You do need to make sure that the shaft is still central to the log/tube, otherwise you'll have leaking stern glands. Its just part of the alignment process. Best it ashore, then double check afloat.

I did email them but will give them a call

I think they are not great at email, worth calling, they'll understand the application. Are they taking the thrust?

Thanks Ben

Thanks Petem

Sedan 36. Am waiting for a call back from robush.. I think they are called cushyfloat

Has jimmy got 63p's? If so, same mounts. I can't find the thread

So, to close this out, engine mount is a cushyfloat 17-1657 shore hardness 65.

Coming from robush for £60 each and £16 for new adjusters +vat (need those and Volvo is fine thread so won't fit)

I appreciate the new Volvo ones have been redesigned but this design has lasted 28 years and actually the mount hasn't failed. The locking nut on top of the mount cover was loose so I think this has allowed it to move forwards slightly. Mounts have soften over the time to allow that to happen but still, no failure as such.

why was the nut loose? I think whoever adjusted in the past got on the wrong nut a few times and didn't notice.

Thanks for all the help
