Alternative to teak cockpit grating?

Has anyone found a cheap alternative to teak cockpit gratings?

My current grating is in a very bad condition and I am considering my options. I did wonder about GRP or Plastic gratings; has anyone tried these?

I think there are some interlocking plastic waffles that can be made into a grating, and google search indicates fiberglass now available.
they will all suffer from the dirt underneath problem, and will be more abrasive on the cockpit floor over a long period.

Search for Aquaplan, www.aquaplan.com and look at their french language site for DALLE-TOITURE & DRAINANTE - these are high density tiles made of what look like compressed rubber bands
We used them to replace our knackered teak flooring and never looked back - they are great, you can cut them to size. Lift out to hose the cockpit through once a year. They let the water drain through, absorb noise, very easy on the feet, don't creak - and the red does not look too bad. Never have to teak oil them either
Sadly no idea where you can buy them in England - have some spares lurking in the garage.
Way better and cheaper than teak!

Technix in Soton do them plus a rubber mat type like the interlocking doormat.
Does anyone have a method to keep the dirt underneath down, apart from clean, clean and clean again?

If you Google for www.coroseal they have what are called 'walkway gratings' and are similar to the ones on the yacht I race on. They can be cut to shape and are easily removed to wash the cockpit down. 4 colour types are offered. Could be the same 'waffle' grids mentioned above.

I tried plastic 'waffle' type grating once. They looked like the matting in changing room showers. They looked fine when I put them down but the first time the boat heeled they just slid over the cockpit floor and doubled themselves up. You need something more solid than that.
