Hmm...looks like Cormorant Trading isn't any more.

Their EVM cleaner was brilliant and a great referral when we first bought the boat.

What do the learned panel recommend as a general cleaner which can be used whilst the boat is still in the water (non-tidal Thames)? Clearly needs to be eco-thingy and safe. I'd prefer something like EVM which can be used an virtually everything if possible.

Cheers

I know the EVM guys well and it was EU regulations that forced them to stop (change in 'safe' chemical definition), as they are only a small concern.

Interesting........just spray on and wipe off? Sounds like a very attractive option.

Is it really as simple as that?

I fret about what you are doing concurrently, ie scoring a line in your gelcoat........................

I prefer to wash off first I wax/polish a copuple of times a year.

If you had gelcoat like mine.......you wouldn't fret:D

Faded blue, discoloured, old sign-writing showing, unloved for years until I bought her.....I just want to keep her clean and presentable....can't imagine ever getting a glass-like finish without investing more than it's worth.

Yes, best used with micro fibre cloths, either spray onto the surface or onto a cloth, wipe over then buff off with a clean cloth. Stubborn stains require a little more elbow work, also works well on glass, stainless steel & the tender

Interesting......thanks Jurgen.

I use showroom shine... Brilliant as a quick clean option. You can come and borrow some for a test if you like? I should be back at the boat on Monday.

Splendid! Thanks Jonesey: and we'll finally get to shake hands.

I'm taking a few days off next week so just drop me a PM or text (I will PM you my contact details)....cheers

Simon

Showroom shine works fine but I tend not to use it until I have washed the surfaces down otherwise you might be unwittingly using it as a rubbing compound!!!!

For an excellent all round cleaning product, as in EVM type of cleaner, search for suppliers of Virosol, it is a citrus based cleaner I discovered when really into the whole car detailing thing. I have used it for years on everything from alloy wheels to the wife's silk top, excellent stuff and removes almost everything. It is a must have spray bottle on the boat. Buy it in 5ltr bottles , last time I bought was abaou £11 and can be diluted up to 20-1

I agree Virosol is good stuff and very ecomomical as it does a good job even when well diluted with water.

I contacted Clover chemicals and they gave me details of a local trade supplier.
