Has anyone used, or have experience or knowledge of Jotunmastic 90? I've just stripped back to my gel coat and am considering using it for my hull and cast iron keel.

Cheers

No
But , I and others have used Jotun Penguard HB and rate it highly . It is high build /sands well so you can build up a very fair surface and is industrial pricing rather than yacht pricing ?
Which is nice.
Here, for example . SML Marine Paints - Jotun Penguard HB | Pure Epoxy Primer
They are pretty helpful on the tech phone too so you may get advice on the wide choice of Jotun 2 pack primers best suited to grp and barrier coatings and cost effectiveness for your particular requirement .

I have used Jotun's Penguard HB with the low temp. additive for the same purpose as we do not get winter temperatures much above 10C here in W. Scotland, I find Jotuns paints seemto do everything they claim and as an added advantage the cost is lower than most of the competition. Their website gives usefuladvice on selection. On their advice I used Vinyguard 88 over it as a key/ barrier coat before applying the antifoul. Lot of the Vinyguard left over but found it to be an excellent primer for steel, similar to Primocon but I think better, Jotun dealers seem to stock mainly 5 litre tins, smaller tins are hard to find. Vinyguard uses a different thinner to the epoxy, again info on the website.
I did use Jotamastic to coat a lead keel which was rejecting its factory epoxy coating, my recollection now is not great but I do remember needing to sand down a few drips and runs, perhaps I was laying it on too thick? I will look out the journals for that boat and check for adverse experiences.

Edit- Jotamastic was in October 2008, three coats on keel on same day so explains runs, sanded and primed before antifouling before launch in March 2009.

I used this after having my GRP hull blasted clean, fraction of the price of Gelshield at £40 for 5 litres and as said, industrial strength, obvious hint - get white and grey for alternate coats and you can see where you've been, got mine from paints4trade.com, great service from them too. I too used vinyguard 88 over the epoxy as primer.Penguard HB.jpg
