Strewth! talk about chucking a cat amongst the seagulls. It has taken us long enough to get this one sorted out. If Haydn hadn't taken the matter by the horns we'd still be talking. If you want an alternative go ahead and produce one, then you can have the fun of selling them.

What a brilliant idea. Now I've got a pile of cheques in the drawer. There not cashed. So tell me where to send them?
Or shall I tear them up and we'll just start again.

Or are you suggesting that we all have a different one. Yes this can be arranged. Send a blank cheque and a picture.
Maybe we can issue a list of flag pictures to keep on the boat. So we can recognise each other.

Our stationary cupboard is fully mobile as is our stationery cupboard, and all the other cupboards.

I stand (stationary) corrected over the spelling of stationery.

No Bungee jumping till late next week I'm afraid, at earliest. Aparently theres some sort of local holiday on Friday that mi flag man had forgot about. However I've kicked him like buggery to try and get me 4 out this week so I can deliver them to Colin Scott in Portugal. I've put my butler Jason, in charge for next week, and told him to look here for messages. He's going to post the flags off to you as soon as they come. Oh and I've just been to the bank and chucked all your cheques in. Ha Ha!! Hope they dont all bounce back.
So just shout at Jason a bit next week. He's a bit old and slow but what to expect on the money I pay!!

I was going to start this post with - "from a newbie", but actually I am a newbie to this boaty thing but I no longer consider myself a newbie to this forum.

The point is that I've now had a boat for one season. I've done most of the courses that I should for the level I'm at but the truth is that the vast majority of stuff I've learn't about boating on a practical side has come from this forum and the people that frequent it.

Now I don't really like the burgee design as suggested, but I think that so far, in my limited experience, this is the only place where I feel comfortable chating about all sorts of things including boats. Sort of like a club actually, which is really the point. I'd really like to show that I'm part of this group and proud of it. I'd like to be able to identify other people, who I have never met, but who certainly have helped me, taken the p**s out of me and who I feel I've come to know just a little bit.

I might not like the final design for the burgee, but whatever it looks like, I'd like to be a part of what it represents and I'm really happy to have sent my cheque.

ps based on the Thames at the moment I can honestly say that some of the burgees are either really boring or really dated. At least this one is refreshingly different, has a touch of humor and originality and is easily identified amongst the other stuff out there. (also said IMHO and very much in ignorance )

Re: Bloody Cheek

Bloody-cheeky-out-of-the-blue-newbie apologises for stirring hornet's nest with large oar. Roasting duly completed – without striking a match – in an alternative covert cupboard . . .
(Wot's it covert in, then?)

Stamped SAE & cheque duly being proffered to HWMBO. Must get a proper boat next.

Keep smiling . . .

Re: Bloody Cheek

Well thanks for that kind sir. Allot of us were not totaly commited to the chosen flag. but then again allot were. If it were aloud to pontificate for long, about the issue. Nothing would have happened. And the result would have been NO FLAG. All IMHO of course. But Now or shortly we will have a Flag, Burgee, Pennant. God knows, If had my penants for being so stupid enough for getting involved.
Just send yer cash we'll do the rest. I'm going horse with the next bit. Just for gods sake send you'r blankity blank, cheque book and pen!!

Re: Agreed

actually, I think you'd have to look really closely to recognise the burgee, but at least it's a nice blue colour so twil be ok. And anyway, we can have a new one next year like man united change their kit every year too.
