Has anyone heard of, or knows the whereabouts of a company called Alpha who make/made stainless deck fittings. They may be somewhere in East Anglia as they were used by Boating scene at Basildon (and possibly the parent company Rydgeway) I am in desperate need of a 10mm U bolt to match one from this manufacturer, all others seem to be too tall. Any ideas?

If you can't find the company you might have to fit the nearest replacement size. I had to do this a few years ago when I sheared off the nut when I tried to tighten it to cure a possible deck leak. When fully removed the stainless steel had severe crevice corrosion, I removed the other 3 - they were lower shroud supports - and they were all the same. After investigating the various suppliers found that Wichard were identical and fitted 4 new ones. The old ones had a turned down portion with ¼" BSW threads, whilst the new ones were M8 - obviously stronger.

I'd rather be sailing... :-)
