Aloa 27/28 - Anyone sailed on one or own one? Impressions?

I have owned one for the past seven years, Budget Sailings brochure says it all its a great little yacht...no more need be said.

The Aloa is a supple sailing, seaworthy cabin yacht of 8.30 m in length and 2.80 m in beam. She weighs only 3.0000 kg and is therefore very easy to manoeuvre. The furling genoa is operated with a single line and the mainsail with two mainsheets on top of the deckhouse. This system is very practical because it keeps the cockpit free and thus enables you to trim the sails whenever you think necessary.

The Aloa has a total sailing area of 37 m2 (main and genoa) and is equipped with a two cylinder 18 HP Yanmar diesel engine which will bring you anywhere in the absence of wind.

In short – for her size, she is an easy to handle, spacious and comfortable blue water sailing yacht!

Can I be nosey and ask why,as you own a Vega.
I think the best cheap buy above, is the GK 29, if only it did not have the 10hp Bukh single donk donk.

Course you can, I'm thinking about keeping a boat in Greece & spending four months or so a year there. I think the blue water boat claims for the Aloa are OTT but wouldn't be for crossing oceans anyway. Looking for something not too expensive to buy, easy to sail/maintain, relatively inexpensive mooring, etc...

Thanks for that! Although I have not sailed the Aloa I have obviously seen a few about due to my location. I think they are a great boat for your plan and a better boat than the Jags that have been sold off. Just a case of add a cheapo solar shower bag and away you go! good luck with a good idea.
