A little later than expected we are planning to depart Jersey this weekend and commence our journey to the med.

Our proposed ports of call have changed a little thanks to advice from friends and forum members. So our first leg this Saturday is a nice easy one - Jersey to Roscoff - about 80NM.

Conditions and tide times are good the next day for the Chenal du Four and Raz de Sein so we were planning stay at Trinite sur Mer for a few nights. However, there's a big yacht race on this weekend so they cannot accommodate us until Tuesday.

We can't hang around in Roscoff for 3 nights so have to decide between Port Haliguen or Crouesty. I believe (but can't be sure) that Haliguen use floating pontoons for larger vessels which doesn't sound great. We need power, shelter and an attractive surrounding area with a bit of charm and character if possible. We will also need about 3,000L of good fuel.

I would be grateful for any first hand experience of either port.

Been to both several times, halugen has one long double sided visitor pontoon but accomodates large vessels if there is room. It's not a scenic marina and the town is a couple of KM but nice if a bit touristy. Chandlery and cafe but I'd give it a miss as it's still a long reach, (hour), from Morbihan entrance - have fuelled there and no problem unless very low tides.
La Crouesty is at the entrance to Morbihan, is surrounded by cafes, shops and restaurants. There are very good services and equipment shops. Very sailorostic and the shore services, elec is pretty lousy in the visitor sections.

I've said it before - consider La Trinite as an alternative to both. Lovely town, better restaurants and cafes, really good larger berths available and the setting is very nice. You can spend a day tendering up the river and take a picnic. There's a fantastic chandlery and the Marina team are very friendly. Worth a look imho and with a big boat like yours, far easier and less hoohas in sailing boats getting in the way ;)

Have a great and safe trip.

Oops - just read your post properly! Shame as Trinite is nice - of the two remaining choices - La Crouesty would win for me...

Your boat is rather larger than mine so I can't comment on the berthing.
You can see why they built Halguen.. practicality. Unfortunately, it all ends there. Great if you NEED to stop, but if you dont ,hard to see why you would choose to.
I would also say Crouesty. It looks vast on the pictures, but it is actually quite compact. In the left corner as you come in is a decent Supermarche...with a tender pontoon. If you need to restock, taking the tender 150 metres is alot easier than the walk.
Do take even a few hours into Morbihan....it is vast..but once past the rapids at the entrance ,head for the quieter reaches and anchor for a very peaceful afternoon.
Force your way into Trinite and pretend you are sinking...It isn't THAT special, but it is all rather pleasant.
