Almerimar Marina

Just considering wintering in Almerimar but I see on their tariff page the statement "Wintering without people on the boat". I would be grateful if someone could shed some light on this apparent restriction. Many thanks.

At a guess, the boat is on the dry, but nobody allowed to be staying, on the boat (Like it is here in Gouvia Marina, Corfu)

Well you be in company , we know of 20 plus boats on the way there to winter out .

Almerimar is one of the few in Spain that allows work and staying on board

We are wondering the same, we planned to go there as well but not if we cannot live on the boat, I have a feeling you can but the rate is higher then they publish on line.
Would be interesting to hear from one of the liveaboards already in almarimar.

We spend time in the marina and there was never a problem , on the hard there was an extra charge for staying on board .

They have two rates one to park the boat with no electricity. The other for staying on the boat includes electricity and water. Call the office for details.

I thougt Almerimar is the worst marina i have ever visited it is a concrete jungle of flats by the marina and there in no security.

On the hard there is security and you can work on boat.Rates in marina are not as cheap as they may seem due to daily costs of electricity and water.Quiet in the Winter..but it has VERY convenient supermarket! There is more security around marina than it appears due to the number of folks aboard boats and they are not miles down a walkway everyone sees what’s going on.

Before you sign up at Almerimar I suggest that you check out Aguadulce which is a little way East. There is loads of hard standing if that is your preference although you would need to check is it’s ok to stay on board. I suspect that there would be no problem at all. Almerimar is ok but there is pretty much nothing there and the empty apartment blocks around impart a strong whiff of the tumble weed. There is, however a good supermarket and there seemed to be quite an healthy live aboard contingent if that rocks your boat. Aguadulce is a lovely town and a delightful marina. There are bars and restaurants around but no nocturnal disturbance. Almería airport is just up the road aAnd their prices are very reasonable. For hard standing I got a better price from Aguadulce than from Almerimar who were principally interested in filling their Marina berths. Good luck.

Just saying we found Almerimar depressing and should have gone on to Cartagena and the Real club.

Reading the above as I haven't been to Almerimar for a while have all the bars and restaurants shut?
Only ask as when we were there there was a good mixture of mainly Spanish bars/restaurants with some British ones. Also as has been said a very good supermarket and a good chandlers with skilled craftsmen to get most things done
From some of the above descriptions it appears to be a ghost town now

No, entry like it. There's a winter pensioner scene. Good chandlery, too. But not my cup of tea. I prefer a large town with some culture about.

Certainly we liked it, a good liveaboard community with many links to the settled community who had 'swallowed the anchor there'. Plenty of activities such as walks where car sharing was encouraged. Just had a homely feel, perhaps it was helped by the many good friends we met there and so there was an active social life

We was but now going back to Sicily to get hauled out to copper coat , if that don't work out it be Tunisia again
