One of the memsabs offspring has just had baby daughter. She was sent a few names to comment on, one of which was Alma. I passed on that backgroubd was a battle in the Crimea and a decent pub in Harwich. So any unwelcome vibes over-ridden by other associations, praps from Swedish d-in-l. Theres alma mater of course derived from an ancient deity praps. Wonder if she'll qualfy for a drink on the house if produces identity at the pub
 
In the Hebrew bible, Alma meant 'young girl'. In the Christian bible Alma was translated as 'virgin'.
So, this whole 'virgin birth' thing was caused by an incorrect translation. Makes you think.

Not really. The correct meaning is of a child who lifts the soul or spirit of another. Kind of appropriate.
