There was a thread some time ago regarding music on board and someone mentioned a site called alltunes. Tried searching but no avail. Anybody got any idea who it was or where I can find the thread, please?

yeah, alltunes was a good cheap site, however I think the plugs been pulled on it recently. there are plenty of other sites though, eg Limewire... what exactly do you need?

Hi guys. Thanks for the reply. I had a look at the site after the last posting and liked the look of the back catalogue. Some great old music in there that i thought was lost forever. However as stated it seems that the plugs have been pulled on the payment side of the site and i was just wondering if anyone had any news.
I'm just looking to buy/download some of the stuff I used to listen to years ago. Heard some bad things about Limewire being too intrusive so I'd be uncertain about using it without good recommendations. Anybody got any other similar sites they know about?

Both are legal under Russian law, because royalties are collected and shared with artists, although this local price setting is not recognized elsewhere. Typical cost of an album is $2. You don't have the problem of viruses, slow speeds, etc.
Be aware that you could be infringing copyright if you use these services. Best thing to do is buy the album you want from the record store.
