This is a navigation warning for just about the whole of the south coast and remains in place for most of the next season...
You are advised to beware of an eratically sailed HR31 distinctive by her ashen faced crew and slightly derranged looking skipper in sea areas Wight, Portland... well anywhere really, just keep a verfy good look-out.

Done it! Offer accepted, survey booked and much nervous excitement in the C_M household!!

Now, what's all this anti-fouling business about....

good luck and enjoy.. I will be watching SB for Collision avoidance and Colregs threads relating to any NUC/RAM HRs

Cograts!!!

Having just gone through the same process, I know what its like!

I'll take heed of your warning, you better just note the same warning applied to an ETAP 35i!

Dig out all your old clothes, buy some rubbing ointment for the aches and pains, show the better half your clean hands, she will never see them that good again, and kiss good-bye to all your free time and spare cash. Welcome aboard ???

Congratulations on getting your boat.

EXCELLENT - when are you leaving on your circumnavigation?

Sorry to sound like a party pooper, but you might want to wait for the survey report before getting too excited. You have obviously been very thorough in your seach and purchase, so I hope everything works out OK for you....... but don't be afraid to walk away from it if there are any major issues which you would prefer to ignore.

Wise words and ones that dont fall on fallow ground! I am absolutely determined to walk away if there's any sign of a problem. It'll be a shame but better that than the alternative.

Congrats, Its a glorious feeling finally owning a boat. HR31's are good solid boats, so I can't see you having any major survey problems. I found it useful to go and meet the surveyor and follow him around during the survey - it may annoy him slightly! but I gained loads of knowlege about the boat systems and where everything was from that one short excercise.

Yes, I'm hoping to do the same - depends a bit on work commitments but it did strike me as a great way to learn about the boat before cocking it up out on the high seas!

Could be anytime, just depends on how lost I get!

I bought one three years ago, hull no. 97, haven't regretted a second since. Fast safe and admired where ever you go. Try Brunuise(? spelling) on teh Gravelling Mere, Saw 5 in a row. Trouble is where to go from here, bigger HR's just get more expensive. If when lost you find yourself in Shotley @ Harwich look us up. Berth H08.

Cruise in company?

Hey, how many other Butters operate out of Shotley? I'm beginning to think that we could organise an Ostende booze cruise on the same lines as the South Coast Cherbourg event!
