Hi all,
My grandfather, a keen sailor passed a few months ago and we have found what seems to be all Practical Boat Owners back issues, from the 60’s to early naughties.
Are there any keen collectors out there or if you know of one, please can you kindly share.
I have checked a few exchange sites but these are only interested in singles, as there are so many I would like to find a good home as a set.
thank you.

When they were taken over, all the back issues were "disapeared" They dont do stuff like that anymore, mores the pity.

If they are on the ball, they would have already scanned in all their archive and wouldn't want replacements of the physical copies they have already got rid of. They can provide reprints of articles from electronic archive.

Just a suggestion. If they're not asked they can't take them can they. We don't know for sure what the status of their archives are. Only takes an email to ask them. Better than being defeatist and throwing them all away.
I don't see many better ideas to the question, being offered to the op.

I was talking to one of the staff the other day, scanning was too expensive, something to do with cataloging it to database once scanned. Dont forget what was once a separate office in Poole with several staffers is now a desk in a central office with shared staff to do several mags!

You're right. There is absolutely no harm in asking.

There is a lot to be said about virtual volunteering. I spent the early part of lockdown entering rain records from national observations starting in the 1950s. As you say, the expense is after the scanning, and you can get that free with willing volunteers.

Perhaps you could contact the OP and offer to do the biz?

I've got several magazine boxes which I browse through occasionally. It's interesting how the subject matter has changed over the years. There's far more electronics than there was 20 yrs ago. I contributed an article some time ago about how to change bolt rope main on my Leisure 17 for slugs. I think I got £50 for it.
