I was today ?

After lockdown in France was eased a little, I was able to visit my boat. I had expected it to be on land, as we had asked the port to take it out a month ago. So I was surprised to see it still in its berth. Whatever miscommunication caused this mixup, I decided, as the French say, to profit by it. But I was not sure if the new rules allowed for boating, but after getting legal advice from Kingfisher, I put to sea. And even though the time on the water is limited to three hours from your front door back to your front door, it was lovely ??

Lockdown does really get you down. The increase in latitude does feel good and in two weeks things are set to get better still (depending on the disease of course). But, without a doubt, for all on this forum, getting on the water represents freedom??

S and I had a discussion the other night about what we had missed the most this year. It wasn’t relatives, parents or kids. We both agreed we had missed boating the most out of anything:D

We are visiting tomorrow, not been aboard since the start of the second lockdown.

First Mate has made new pilothouse window blinds, I shall finish the radio CD player install.

Got to cut two 240mm holes for the posh speakers, I managed to put the wires in place last visit.

I should take on as crew a young female gymnast to assist with running cables in the tight and restricted spaces.

Perhaps others might reccomend another purpose for such a flexible crewmenber........................................

For the next two weeks the rules are, you are allowed out for a maximum of three hours for leisure pursuits that are outdoors and not including people outside of your household, and for a distance of 20 km from your house.
The ports are interpreting this as boating is allowed.
From the 15th the 20 km rule and three hours is disbanded and I think (remember that the rules won’t be known until midnight of the 14 th) that you will be allowed to visit family for Christmas. However there may be a curfew.
I think that in January, restaurants may open (right now they are all takeaway only).
This is all from my understanding and maybe interpreted differently by the policeman arresting you.
Also note that everything depends on the course of the disease

In France? If that's what you mean, restaurants and cafes are closed until 20th January. Serious stuff.

I think maybe some people would prefer to go boating than visit their family:D

Yes, I’m in France. The problem is that when they relax the rules (as they did before the latest flairup) it spreads the disease again. I’m guessing that everything really hinges on the vaccine.
But as of now we can go boating but you must obey the restrictions

Have also been at sea taking the boat from Genova to Salerno. Unfortunately the sea is now a little large so berthed up in Roma. Not so bad as in the yellow zone so restaurants etc all open to 6pm and beyond if you make friends with the local restauranters. Spectacular to be on the boat when no one else around and just down the PontiLe look what I came across

Bought recently by a super nice guy who is redoing her. She used to be owned by Winston Churchill and would take him and his senior ministers out to the fleet Admiral during the war. All oak inside and will be quite spectacular when she is done.
