Round my old stomping grounds of Devon and Cornwall. Why is it that they have to give the impresion that an expert captain is needed, whilst on canal boat trips the impresion is, every one is doing it. Nice to see my old mate Peter Newman showing them the ships up the Fal.I have a film of his place, but unfortunatly it's in vidio.

Mr NEWMAN IS FAMOUS FOR SIGNS.

But it is a lovely place to go for cream teas, pasties or a pint.

But there were loads of good places that they did not go.

It could have been done better, but at least it's a start.

Heres a film about Salcolme which gives a much better view of Salcolme I think, I dont think the TV gave it justice.

I didn't see the program so can't comment, but I gotta say that's a smashing photo. I know you've posted it here before but it's still nice to see it again. Dunno why, but it makes me think "proper boating" and it reminds me of cruising SW coast of Ireland (which is very similar coast to Cornwall in some ways) years ago

All at Sea

I watched it last night and really enjoyed the programme.

In particular, what a stunning Gentleman's Motor Yacht that Wando(?) Lady is. She cuts through the water beautifully and looks both graceful and luxurious.

I was however comforted to hear that despite her size she appeared to be noisier than our 33 footer! No wonder they seemed to spend most of the time on deck..

Looking forward to next week's episode when they appear to go on a Sunseeker and sailing school ship, amongst others.

I was a bit disappointed. Was hoping to see them learn about boating, not just a jolly, as last nights was.

The Timothy Spall prog with his barge for me is better viewing. Sharing his concerns and reasons about the unpredictability of the elelments, and actually doing the hard work himself.

Looks like we have 2 similar threads going on here. I'm spoilt for choice now but just to make sure I cover it all, I think HLB's pics are great,Richard Madeley is a smarmy barsteward and the Timothy Spall series is really very good. :)
