I read that Alkylate petrol gives less dangerous fumes in the exhaust. If it reduces the cancer risk it would be worth the high cost. Does anybody know about this, please, and are there any technical downsides to the engine?

If you read the Aspen fuel website, you will be completely convinced.

https://aspenfuel.co.uk/

Aspen have a big presence at e.g. Forestry shows,* and one of these rich days, I shall try a gallon - but at three times th eprice of even premium petrol....

* At the demos, none of their chainsaws etc seem to smoke, and the exhaust certainly smells less 'bitter', but they may be running the saws at lower oil:fuel ratios. I suspect that if I whack my normal 50:1 ratio in, the saws will still smoke a bit.

You may be the first person I’ve come across that doesn’t want to smell 2 stroke. Haha. Love it.

Just recently I was looking on eBay for a good 2 stroke oil and came across flavoured 2 stroke for mopeds!
Unbelievably you can get all sorts of flavours. Crazy.
