Aldidl charger problem

I have two in operation on old gash car batteries at home and have found, recently, that they are reluctant to respond to the 'mode' button. One seems to have a contact problem and will eventually find a position where it will respond (i.e. on one point of the button). The other just seems to take a long time to wake up after reconnecting to the mains (i.e. it will work as expected but has a teenagers waking cycle).

Now I know I am not alone with this problem, I'll take a bit more notice of what happens and report back if I find something.
Cheers, Bob

I've had a closer look at both units and as mentioned both are sluggish to respond to the Mode button. I didn't time them but 15seconds would cover the time it takes them to respond. One of the two needs a much firmer press than the other to alter the mode.
These units are fine for my purposes - testing boat kit at home - but on board, it would have to be CTEK.
Cheers

I think you're right, for long-term un-attended use a ctec is better. However, in my situation where the boat is at home, the aldidl is OK. In the summer, she's will usually be on my swinging mooring so no mains charging anyway.
