i got one of these just over a year ago as a present ;
just got round to fitting it in the boat there is a couple of problems and i dont know if its faulty or its my wiring
1st it plays for about an hour then cuts out and wont start just flickers ,when on if you turn the the volume up it cuts off

Hi

Is it a tevion with CD MP3 USB and SD slot? If so they had some in store just before Christmas. You might be able to convince them it was only a month old, "sorry mate I lost the receipt". Yeah I know, a bit naughty, but they are a big company!

Must say that consumer law does not require one to have a receipt. It is the responsilbility of the store to keep a receipt. Aldi, have IMHO one of the best customer services of any store. Also if it is a Medion, they also have a great customer care! I had my Medion-PDA/GPS repaired ( out of warranty) free of charge!!
BTW, I have no commercial interest in either Aldi or Medion.

Fitted a Medion car radio/CD too on Alchemist, largely because of the MP3 facilities. Ubiquitous now, not so two years ago. Lots of little niggles. Cutting out, crackling noises on the CD etc... Took it home, works perfectly. Fitted two noise suppressors in the 12V line on the boat, refitted the radio, all to no avail.
Then bought a (nearly) new car, and fitted the Medion. Works perfectly for a year now! They seem to be very sensitive to stray currents or transients(battery loader?).

Works fine for me and my bayliner and got it about 2 years ago... maybe it'll deteriorate with more use next year - hope not, i like playing mp3s through it also!

I have one and it is no problem at all and I am very pleased with it. A friend with a yacht has one and he says when the voltage is a bit down it stops working altogether. He then starts the engine and it's fine. It seems they are sensitive to low voltage. I have noticed there is quite a large current drain when the CD is in use. Just under 2 amps.

no they were all conected to the right + and- should the power wires be conected to permanent live including memory live

I used to have this problem with a car radio on a boat and solved it by connecting the memory+ve and the power+ve together, it worked, it seemed that the radio turns itself off after a time if not reminded that it is live.

I read somewhere else on here that if you only connect two speakers to a four speaker unit that can make them overheat and cutout for a while. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

just noticed the battery is pretty flat but not completly dead as it works the lights ok what is the chances of this being the problem as i have removed the cd player
