Called in at Alderney last week and picked up a mooring in Braye Harbour. I was pleasantly surprised having not visited the Island for six years. For the first time in living memory I was not rafted up on a buoy in August.

Ashore SWMBO and I were able to rent bikes at a rate of £6 a day per bike. Afternoon Tea at the Sailing Club was also excellent value.

I shall be returning as soon as possible. It beats ST Peter Port!

Don't forget lunch in the Divers and dinner in the First & Last (Mondays excepted). One of these days I'm really going to have to climb the hill out of Braye.

Been 3 times this year. Absolutely love it. Friendly Harbourmaster, great anchorage ( except in Northerlies ! ), sandy beaches and lovely walks and cycle rides. Second The Divers and Yacht Club. Bumps is a great restaurant, not exactly cheap tho. it's also exactly the same distance from The Needles as Cherbourg ! We're hoping for 1 more visit this year in October weather permitting.

We were in Braye early July. We usually anchor near the beach on the left of the bay. This time no different as the buoys were all taken, bonus was a young fisherman using what looked like long lines off small buoys near the beach.. we witnessed him landing Seabass by the bucketfull. We managed to blag a superb fish, plenty for five! doesn't get better than that.. Incidently.... he was with his son, 10ish I guess, was quite impressed, nice way of life. Lovely place, cant wait to spend more time there.
