Oh dear, just filled the Origo with the penultimate bottle of alcohol - if anyone is going to Ostende and would get me a half dozen bottles I'd pay top dollar (and be very grateful because meths stinks). Hand over at the Pirate w/e or Orwell/Deben/Stour/Ore.
 
That's the stuff. It doesn't smell and doesn't soot up the bottom of the pans. I think the French and Belgians use it for cleaning glasswear judging by the labels.


And apparently that was my 2000th post. What an auspicious moment.

What does it say on the label?

[/ QUOTE ] It says it's alcohol or alcool or alcohol brulee (with an accent that my pc can't do!) It may say it's for spirit stoves but more likely for cleaning drinking glasses (!?). Basically it's ethanol / denatured alcohol.

I'll try and post a picture!

Yikes, looks like we used our last bottle so no picture. Having googled it, it's standard stuff in France/Belgium.
