A haunting sight watching a boat go down, even if no one (thankfully) is aboard. Well done the RNLI, sterling work there.

Hampshire Police got the main casualties off, plus we were already alongside when Mudeford came ploughing in.
I was looking for you in the opening footage, did you back off as the orange charger swooshed in?

Very lucky the RNLI aren't reporting a crewman pulled down with the rigging.
It did seem a tad dicey in the final minute, I am surprised getting the yacht crew off was not a higher priority. Easy to say with hindsight I suppose as the RNLI coxswain had a lot to think about in a fast developing situation.

Are 'guard wires' anything but a hazard is one of the thoughts I had.

Rnli don't have auto life jackets obviously and fortunately, probably; glad the one in the water got clear.

We're the dark rib at 0:33, we'd pulled clear by then to protect the scene - the Hampshire Police vessel "Commander" had already been alongside the casualty and taken 4 off, the remaining two at point refused to go. "Commander" was best placed to stay alongside, especially with the amount of lines and debris in the water.

I'm amazed how Mudelford ILB didn't get a rope round the prop as soon as they arrived, or, to be more accurate, barged in without assessing the scene or discussing options with the police launch.

A clearer story is told here (from 1.03 onwards) from the clifftop - Commander first on scene, with us standing by at 1.10 with not a an orange peril in sight.

That "Commander" is certainly a very nice vessel. I assume she has jets rather than props and also see that she is designed to be driven up a beach!
