What a pity it did not sell. With the same build quality of the Vega I would have thought it a winner.

I expect it would have been, except for the prop being in such a random position!
Surely the rudder tube must cross the prop shaft, one one of them can't be in the middle?
Yet another thing, the prop runs very close to the surface.

Albin also made a Stratus, 35'. They are relatively rare and they only made a few. Worth googling for some pictures. Fantastic sailing boat, lead fin keel and very well built. My Dutch friend has one and I have done a North Sea passage in her - very comfortable. He's moving to Portugal in the spring so it's coming up for sale. I am seeing him in a couple of weeks so if you want any info or see how much the asking price will be I'm happy to put you in touch.

Marieholm became part of the Albin group. The 32 was designed by the Folkboat guy, Tord Sunden. Early ones had the dreaded aft prop, this one maybe not.

If you do end up with a Vega make sure you check all is well with the stern tube. Not sure of how exactly the prop shaft exits the boat but think it is through some sort of gaiter. I had a friend with one and we were sailing up the north channel at night in company and his popped off. Quite alarming at the time and it took him nearly an hour bent double trying to get it back on. Decided to pull into Troon to get it checked out and the marine engineer there (well known & notorious chap) demonstrated how to pop it back on in around 5 seconds !

That's news to me. My Vega had a dripless seal on the inside and some sort of plastic tubing within the stern tube. No gaiter, unless that's a description of the dripless seal?

If I was looking for a 30-33 ft boat I would includea sigma on my list
Sails really well, good sea boat, & should be fairly cheap
There are some that have have defects (as with most classes of boats) but a survey will soon show the best ones

Have to agree that Stratus is a great sailing boat. Used to race on one some years ago. Sailed like a dream. Aft cabin a bit awkward I remember. Engine under the saloon table, access good but noisy in use as difficult to insulate, but it is a sailing boat!
