i've come to a point in my life due to change in circumstances
and sadly i have to part with ''olga''. i'm not sure what to ask/expect for her ? she's on the nrhv register and has been nominated for inclusion on the core collection. any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Excellent, subtle.

However, how do you value a boat like that? If more than one person who is taken with the history and not too concerned about cost was to want it, it could be worth a lot. If there's no-one in the market for an historic boat it's worth little or nothing.
Someone may want it as a vessel quite apart from it's historic value. Their value of it's worth could be entirely different.

Perhaps offer it as available in several publications and on the 'net, on a sealed-bids basis, and hope you find two or three who may want to inflate their valuations to make sure they get it.
The sealed bid process would concentrate people's minds into acting by giving them a deadline to work to, as long as it wasn't too short.

Have you spoken to Martyn Heighton at the NRHV? Perhaps he knows of people or bodies who may have an interest.

Pete, sorry to hear you are throwing in the caulking iron. But at least Olga is on the register. Despite being unique and very old (9 years older than the Cutty Sark) - Cleone is apparently 4'6" too short. Ah, the joys of the administrative mind. And yes, I'd love a grant to help out with the maintenance, but Cleone is not unique AND 40' LOD - "go figure" as they say.

hi mac
you've still got a beautiful boat and i'm sure that even forewarned with that knowledge you'd have still wanted her ! just for the record , it greives me to part with her but i've got little choice. regards, pete. ps like the cooker.

Not mine - martin's. If they ever remake Riddle of the Sands, he can flog the production company a genuine Rippingill No.3!!
Can't wait to see it for real - M says it is nowhere near as good as a taylors, which is a relief. I'm still in winter "minor rebuild ashore" mode - great for the work but nasty on the wallet - yard bills are spanking me. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

M tells me you are going to the "land of the lost rugby match", is this true?

G'day Pete, I used the value for which I was able to get Swallow insured, and then added a bit to allow for haggling. What you can expect is a lot of "tyre-kickers" and wishful dreamers for whom it is "Not quite what they need". [What they need is something twice as big, in 'Showroom condition' for half the price.] One galah wanted to know how big the bathroom was [a Porta-Potti tucked up in the forepeak with sitting room only]. I told him it was as big as all outdoors - a bucket of seawater chucked over your head!
Peter.
