Many of you will recall the Princess 45(?) 'Cassy' which was on the River from the day it was built and never went anywhere else not even St Kats.

The boat was owned by Alan Creswell and I have to bring you the sad news he passed away on the 1st of March from a brain bleed. Alan was aged 83 and those who knew him will tell you he was a quiet unassuming man who loved the Thames and his boat which was built for him in 1977.

We met Alan many times on our journeys up and down the river, he was indeed a lovely man, always polite, friendly and helpful. Glad he reached a good age. Thanks for passing on the sad news Byron.

CORRECTION! I received the message below and re-post it here :-

Byron,
Very sad to hear that Alan has died... Really nice man.
His surname was Caswell (hence Cassy) and he made his fortune as a builder in partnership with a Mr.Redgrave (father of the famous rower).
Finally reunited with the lovely Patsy...

Alan was a real Gentleman, very sad news indeed, spent a lot of time with him and Pat as my folks moored their boat at Temple too.
