AIS shows 'a really big hole'

Although Marine traffic is showing this as received by a shore based receiving station on Bornholm Island... I wonder where the real AIS AtoN is being transmitted from (over VHF) in order for vessels in the area to receive it..

News says vessels should keep 5 miles clear (although that could I guess have been added to the AIS AtoN name to allow any small yachts to at least see what it's about if they haven't got access to news).

Probably transmitted from the nearby island Bornholm but including the position of the hazard so the icon will appear at the location. No doubt frequent Nav warnings on the radio including Navtex. aeriated water can seriously affect buoyancy as found out by a few oil rigs sitting over blow outs.

While Queen Elizabeth was being built at Rosyth she appeared on AIS one night proceeding up the M91 to Aberdeen. Some comedian playing in the electronics room .

I've been through bubble traps in Dutch locks and was always disappointed at the total lack of drama, but the Danish gas hole could be interesting, especially if met in the night. I have sailed over that bit of water a few times but never seen much shipping at that point.

That looks like a major hazard. Apart from the obvious risk of explosion and asphyxiation if you sailed over it you would suffer a loss of buoyancy.

It’s very odd that a relatively new pipeline which I believe was installed by a reputable western contractor would have not one, but three leaks. They would be trenched into the sea bed so not easy to get at for sabotage. I wonder what’s really going on.

I'm really confused by this, I simply can't work out who benefits. Kremlin hardliners making doubly sure that Putin can't back down? Or anti-Putin elements taking away any negotiating ammunition?
Sorry, current affairs, I shall await the naughty step with equanimity

Thread purely stated because of the perfect use of an AtoN...

I was then intrigued by the depth in that area... Navionics Webapp strangely shows a blank in just that area...

It's reported that nord stream one has two leaks and nord stream 2 has one leak.
