Hi,
I recently fitted a Digital Yacht IAIS unit. It is connected to the NMEA 0183 input and output. I used it for the first time over the last few days but I am getting a heading error on my Raymarine A95 MFD. It appears that it works fine for a while but when I turn it stays on the old heading. It had a 30 degree error to port first so I restarted the MFD. It stayed on the correct heading for a while but then when I turned it didn’t update. My track was fine but the orientation of the boat was off.
Does anyone know how to fix this? According to Digital Yacht, the unit does not provide heading data.

If you are sending GPS data to the plotter, it already has what it needs and two GPS inputs causes problems. There'll be an option in the plotter menus somewhere to select the preferred GPS source, or in the NMEA0183 section you should be able to select which sentences you receive, turn GPS off.

I'm sure that Paul is correct in your case but I had a similar error when I first fitted my AIS which was caused by a loop of NMEA data being fed to the plotter and then back to the AIS unit. Once I broke the loop, it was fine.

Thanks folks, I tried changing the NMEA data and got an error message saying “Data Selection not Available” - the following devices are preventing data source selection (ISO(fa 7f 6e e7 2b 96 a0) CAN (110)
I’ll have a look through the settings again on Saturday and see if I can sort it.
