AIS and ATIS are not comparable..... ATIS simply broadcasts an identifying number as a very short data burst at the end of every VHF voice transmission.... it contains no GPS or location data.
It isn't you MMSI number, but is very similar in idea.
AIS broadcasts continuously, but ATIS only broadcasts if you push the button.... it is to reduce incorrect use of marine VHF voice.
