My point was in reply to someone who said that it needs a lot of watts to talk to satellites and used the Delorme as an example, it doesnt!

In which case why was my boat shown as being stationary (as last known position) about 20 miles S of Kilmore Quay for the best part of a year when we were safely in Marina da Praia da Vitoria having transmitted all the way? This year friends were wondering why we had stopped off the end of Sao Jorge for a few days when we were actually moored in Angra do Heroismo.
And yes, my TX was working as I cross check it with other boats whenever practical as I have found the various web site position reports to be very inconsistent. It all depends on their shore based stations, some of which are very poorly positioned.

I have a class B transponder. When I was in open sea
(Aegean, Ionian, Tyrrhenian) this late summer/autumn friends who were following me could not see my adequate position (moving east to west being appr. 30 miles east of Sardinia, they could see me at the north exit of the Messina strait). I also noticed that Vessel Dimder gives a more recent position than Marine Traffic.

Different AIS tracking sites give different results. Some are better than others
