Is senior a reflection on a persons age, experience, or number of posts - perhaps there should be a poll to establish it.
If it is number of posts, perhaps we need a more accurate description for people based on how many multiples of 3000 posts they have made - why 3000 - why not!

The private forum definition of senior is that you never waste an erection, squander the opportunity for a pee or ever trust a fart. AND that you've sailed without any navaids barring a lead line and perhaps RDF
The airline trails are great aren't they? I used to use them and the depth (we eventually fitted one of those new fangled whirly neon jobs) to check our positions mid channel. You really couldn't go wrong if you picked up the 100m deep mid channel and were lucky enough to have an Aurigny yellow trislander pass over
Which reminds me that the ferry timetables were useful navigation aids once upon a time. If you could say "That'll be the 1930 Portsmouth - Le Havre, she's been steaming for x hours on this course, so that'll put her about here" it gave you a position that was at least as accurate as a dodgy RDF fix. Or you could use a ferry's wake as a position line, and cross it with another from a radio beacon, and get some sort of fix.
