While searching for AIS personal 'beacons' I came across AIS markers used to track fishing nets. I wondered about their value to sailors in general. Possibly used like or with a DAN Buoy.
You can assign your own AIS name, battery life is good at 200 hrs and they are rechargeable. About £120 a pop.

I would pay the extra few pounds for the purpose built article.

Same here for the 'personal system' to wear, I'm thinking of other applications.

Some of the Chinese ones have very long update intervals, they send their message/position every 5-10-15minutes,,
sometimes even more. Not sure what they might be useful for on a sailboat, marking an abandoned anchor maybe, or any fixed-ish position on the water?
Anyway, a parameter worth checking with the seller.
