AIS Engine connection to Garmin 2010 chartplotter

I have just purchased an AIS engine and would prefer to connect to the chartploter than run on my laptop. The Garmin 2010 is about 5 years old and is mounted at the steering position. Does anyone know whether it is compatible with the AIS engine?

just looked in the owners manual: http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/41_OwnersManual.pdf - no mention of AIS so I'd say no ...it isn't compatible.

The 2010 is not AIS compatible im afraid.
