I have a raymarine c80 plotter and want to buy an ais engine to overlay. the raymarine one is 600 quid but there are cheaper versions does anyone know which are compatable with raymarine?

Currently using Easy AIS on my C80. Works very well. Let me know if you want anymore information.

There was some discussion that the NASA AIS engine didn't really do RS232 properly - fine on a PC - but could be a bit hit and miss on the C80
Having said that - I've got it setup and it almost always works - but does occasionally drop - I am tempted to try one of the others to see if the drops are the NASA engine - or IAS in genereal

Have been looking at this myself and Easy AIS is the one recommended if you only want to receive not transmit.

Have installed EasyAIS on a couple of Raymarine plotters and they all worked fine. The NASA engine does indeed not output proper RS232 so this may lead to droppings when used with a plotter.
