Fitted a webo to a mates boat yesterday. Took 8 hours with three people!

Anyway, it started up fine after it was fitted and then started to cool down. It stopped with several f1 and f2 errors.

Tried everything I could think of, voltage ok, pumping fine, separate diesel source.

I took the intake silencer out and there was lots of diesel coming out when we fired it, surely this can't be normal?

Any help would be appreciated.

Very worying that fuel should be coming from the air intake side, is this a new unit (2000ST is still current) or a used one? And has anybody had it apart?

F1 & F2 are codes from the university of no shit Sherlock being only fail to start, like you didn't notice and stopped working, ditto so not very helpful other than when they are present it indicates a physical non electrical fault or lack of fuel.

Well, we stripped the while unit down to bare bones.

Brand new unit David from BTechnik

Our starting it over and over had completely jammed the exhaust with what I can only assume was sulphur deposits? It was unreal, I don't understand how it could get to that point after only an afternoons fiddling?

We cleaned it best we could and started it a couple of times, nothing doing.

Removed fuel supply, ran a further few times.. It tried to start!

Tried again, this time with lamp oil and voila! It's currently running happily although smoky. It's starting to clear now, thankfully.

My friend is tempted to run a separate tank with kero. There is no pulsing or anything (I've read stuff you said about this before, David) , heat output is good.

I'm on my phone so sorry if this reads badly.

Sounds like it's not keen on whatever you were feeding it then, perhaps a seperate tank makes sense in this instance. have had this happen on new installs where there is old or dirty fuel in the main tank, old donkey runs on it but the Webo is unhappy with it.

Thanks David, hopefully that's the end of our woes for now!

Will maybe try again once more on the diesel, for an easy life. will post an update if things don't work out.

Was glad to actually take it apart and see the inner workings. It'll make it easier to service my own unit when the time comes.

To paraphrase a well known saying "If it's brand new don't break it"

Still sort of finalising what we're going to do but we'll switch it back over tomorrow hopefully the gentle change from kero-diesel will keep it sweet!
