Airmar DST800 plug removal issues

Is anyone else having trouble with pulling the blanking plug out of the Air mar transducer housing, which is a new one I installed as I thought the problem was with the housing, I have installed new o ring’s, used o ring lubricant and it’s still almost impossible, even with a set of pump pliers to help.

shake don't twist is my method. I use the screw thread to get it cracked then a bloody good jiggling gets it out.

I recently installed a new DST810 but did not replace the housing. I did it while the boat was on the hard. I removed the old DST and tried to install the old blank plug which was sitting there. I couldn't get it in. I reinstalled the old DST without any bother (I didn't want to put the new one in until the painting was finished). Pre launch I installed the new DST, again without bother. I concluded the O rings on the old plug were swollen or otherwise deformed.
