My new heater didn't work due to error 01 temperature sensor open circuit. It measured as open circuit on the 2k setting on my meter. New sensor arrived today. It measures 70k ohm which seems a lot more than the 1 K I was expecting. Going back to the old sensor it also reads 70k ohm. Rechecked many times. Anyone know what the sensor technology is could someone who has actually checked confirm what temperature sensor resistance they measured. I am presuming both are failed and that this is the mode of failure. Glad I decided not to remove the Taylors.

It's one of the Chinese ones. It's the overheat sensor on the heat exchanger. I thought it was supposed to be 1k but looks like wrong part may have been fitted somewhere.

The fault code 01 on the chinese heaters is low battery voltage, could also be set to 24v

Thanks peteK. That's probably it. I looked it up on line and assumed they were all the same. There's a lot of confusing information out there.

Almost all the common temperature sensors are NTC thermisters - so if they are open circuit/missing then the heater interprets that "high" resistance as something silly like -50C !
