Air multiplier heating on board?

£269 for a fan heater??? It's essentially only a 2kW heater with a thermostat; yoiu can buy these for less than £20.

They are advertised heavily in the middle east where they focus on safety. The adverts have some weird looking kid sticking their hands into the space with the air blowing her hair about. There is a load of Arabic gobbeldy gook with the phrase "Safety Fan" regularly interspersed amongst the verbose. The idea is probably a good one for directing a single jet of air but at that cost, no thanks. Anyway, it probably only works in a perfectly shaped room, bulkheads, tables, mast supports, offset galley and chart tables probably will hobble the technology.

Yes but it is ''Dyson'' :D

Air Multiplier technology – draws in surrounding air to heat the whole room evenly

What a feed of carp though up by some idiot sales team.

What next ? Dyson Marine :D

If it's quieter than a normal fan heater or Eberspacher then it could be worth the money. I seem to recall someone on here saying the noise from the small internal fan was quite annoying though.

That is the usual rule for fans; the quietest are the large, slow-moving ceiling fans. But maybe not for boats with limited headroom, or for heating...

I bet Dyson are selling backless fridges to Eskimos "Space Multiplier Technology"!

Mike.

It's actually one of the marketing claims on the Dyson, that large fans make a noise as the blades move and the breeze from them is not steady but comes in waves which can be annoying. I'm sure they have a point but it's still hard to justify the cost.

The TV Fake Britain program had piece on it about a woman who bought one from an Amazon seller (i.e. not actually from Amazon) and it turned out to be fake product from China, that did not even have a UK plug.

Has anyone tried one of these or are there benefits for using these on the boat? What wattage are they?

Yes, some friends have one on their mobo. It was in use over our Easter Bank Holiday trip and it was very good indeed. So much so, that HWIMBO has decided to get one for our boat. Yes £290 is a lot of dosh for a heater, but we can use it as air-con in the office in the summer and a boat heater in the winter.

They ran it off the normal shore-power so you would need an inverter if you were going to run it off the battery..
