Air Dog - auto follow quad copter

Hey Helico,

Congratulations on "launching" an interesting opportunity.

I can get the bikini - just not the skills to fly it in the first place.

Please help!

Thanks

Mat :-)

Hi, Thanks for asking and posting your questions. I think there are quite a few of us in a similar situation and the reply from Helico sounds good too. They seem to have given the Air leash a real workout and the ability to control parameters in a phone app means that there will be easy software updates.

I'm really looking forward to seeing one close up.

Pricing must be a factor but I doubt $400 will last. 'Anders $1500' is more likely, so just another expensive toy eh? :o

Well I as going to post on another thread when I saw this one. Perfect. For this footage I'm using the follow me function while steering my dinghy. Works great. Here's the latest production straight out of the oven:

Very nice michaf. Do you mean the follow me function on DJI? I downloaded that new firmware too. I have some footage of the POI function (flying in a fast circle or helix around the thing you're photographing) and it worked quite well. I'll upload soon

Yep, dji phantom 3P.
Me=ditto. Well almost - I got 3A because I expected to lose the thing and didn't want to waste the money on sending the extra pixels to bottom of sea. 1920x1280 is enough for me. Now I realise how easy it is to fly and how unlikely it is to lose I should have got 3P not 3A (to allow retention of 1920 finished product even after cropping during edit), but no big deal as you know. Love it!

I've owned all the flamingwheels and a s900. Sold them all, the job they've done in terms of integrations is no less then impressive. I'm a dev myself and I can tell you I am not easely impressed. It's not perfect, but it's damn close. That's the thing, I know where miracles can't happen ( example batteries ), and so knowing all the current techno limitations I think they've done an incredible job. The light bridge is a killer and the camera integration is just as so.

Oooooh. Very nice video.

Might be time to get into this market and buy a DJI. I've been holding back for so. E reason and keep messing with the mini/cheapo/carp ones.

Are they really getting 'easy' to fly?

Thanks Michaf. I'm the oppsite - a non dev, just a goon customer with more £££ than flying skill. But I think dji have done an incredible job on this.

Matm, yes it is piece of cake to fly. I cant fly yet I can just about fly this thing (see thread http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?439410-Boat-movies-Quadcopter-ing-summer-2015). Remember that while the copter is +/- £1k, you need a high end computer to edit and process the large video files. I had to buy an top-of-range MacBook pro. So this is a £3k game really, not £1k, unless you are already computered-up

Thanks for the filter link michaf. I "get" pol filters as I use them on SLRs. Thanks
