After 9 days I am told they have recieved, yesterday, an electronic version of the survey and are studying it, expect some idea of their intentions within the next couple of days, then the fun starts:D

Jeez.. thats taking a long time!

When we did Tali I got a call from the surveryor with a summation the next day... and we got the negotiations going right away! I think the proper job was in the post within a couple of days!

Anyways.. they arent gonna find anything on Amoret!

I think if you put a turbine of any size on Tallisman it could well upset the trim of the boat and you could end up going round in circles all day:D

I am hoping that eating a few less donuts will help restore the balance.

I aint gonna get involved in public with that one.... I still feel that a bit of ass-kissing in the marina is best for a quiet life... Anyways... once the sale goes through I will tell you a little story.. :D

I have had others recommending the aerogen.... but its a bit agricultural looking isnt it??? Fine on some dodgy old boat... but on my high-tec modern wonder boat I fancy something a bit more space age!

I can confirm that the AeroGen is totally quiet, even in high winds. Has been running for 18 years without ever being stopped and is on its third set of bearings. I am told that the higher the number of blades on the propeller, the quieter a windgenerator is.
No resonance either, which may be due to the fact that the pole does not touch the deck, but is fastened onto the pulpit.
The output of the more recent generators may be slightly higher, but the end result may well be the same if you can let it spin regardless of the circumstances.

I totally understand and would consider those, who do not inhibit their wind generators in a marina where others may be on board, to be inconsiderate.

As stated above, I always have mine switched 'off' so that it windmills silently. While just laying up I have, for the first time, taken a line from the tail to hold in a position away from prevailing winds to minimise rotating, even slowly, over the winter.

I agree, noise is subjective unless one has a dB meter in the pocket but I know that I am normally noise averse and would hate to have a really noisy wind generator. Then again, perhaps one becomes psychologically tolerant when one knows the batteries are getting their charge. A bit like the dog owners that exercise their pets near to my house - how they smile and encourage their pooches to run and bark, bark, bark, what a din that the owners seem oblivious to.

The dB meter is useless, the perception of noise is subjective, to the point where one noise is acceptable whereas an other one with the same dB level is unacceptable. The perception of noise is very personal which does give rise to many problems. For example I find steady noise quite bearable, probably something to do with time in assorted warships, but intermittant noise is very annoying. Hence my suggestion that the OP goes and listens to generators in action to get some idea of what he will experience.

I have listened to many! 913 is very very quiet when they are right.... and the breeze is noisy when its in action....
