Air Breeze braking

Our 10 year old Air Breeze has a 3 way ‘make or brake’ switch, which has always worked well in terms of turning the wind gen on/ off, until recently. Now the ‘brake’ doesn’t work so the only way to stop it turning is to tie off the blades.
Any suggestions as to the solution?

Thanks,
John

My AirBreeze comes with an on/off switch isolating it from the batteries. But when switched off, the blades freewheel up to a speed where some sort of brake cuts in. This means that every few seconds overnight, there's a loud thud as he system is braked. Is this normal???

The instructions for my Air Breeze are that two wires go to the battery, and the third to the boats' sacrificial anode.

It would be great to be able to completely stop the generator turning to get a quiet night's sleep! I'm reluctant to tie a rope to the rather delicate blades.

Where can I purchase a stop switch?
The 50-amp or greater single-poled double-throw stop switch can be purchased from automotive repair shops or your dealer.

The brake on the charge controller is always ON.

Secure the rotor blades to prevent the generator from turning or disconnect the 3 cables from generator to controller and connect them together to stop the generator.

Please disconnect the cables from solar panels, then the cables from wind generator and at last the cables from the Battery. On the battery output from controller make a shunt between the plus and minus terminals (connect a small cable between the plus and minus) Press two buttons at the same time for 60 sec. Leave the controller rest for at least 20m to dissipate all energy. Connect all cables by the reverse order: 1º Battery; 2º Silentwind generator; 3º Solar panels

Please check the battery charge.
Please check the cables cross section according to user’s manual.

Attention. Wrong connection from Plus and Minus will automatically destroy the charge controller.

Either way it sounds like the brake switch isn't doing this.

Thanks, you're completely right! I noticed before fitting the generator that connecting the positive and negative wires locked the unit. But I then wrongly fitted a switch as a simple disconnect on the positive wire
I clearly need a different switch, one that will allow normal charging OR connect the positive and negative (but obviously not both!)
