I am trying to find a turbo part number for a Aifo 8061 engine which I believe to be a SRM33. The 27 and 33 most likely use the same turbo. The turbo I have fitted is the wrong one and I don't know what the correct part number should be. The engine has the old style mechanical pump and is not a common rail with ECU. Any help would be much appreciated.

there's an admittedly painted label (around 50x80mm) on the rocker cover which has the specifics and serial # of the engines.
my mobo has two 8061 srm33 engines and there's an old thread on my stuck turbo and it's repair. You'll find a few pics there that may help you.
Mind replaced turbo probably implies stock exhaust risers and seawater damage. Check if your watercooled exhaust manifold wastegate is working or stuck solid (mine are stuck but are 600quid a pop and wont bother for now)

port engine not revving as much as strbrd?

Thanks

Thanks Vas, useful information. My exhaust manifold and turbo is very different to the pictures of yours. Not sure if they have different configurations or I have a 270hp engine. Do you know what boost pressure you normally operate at? My engine won't do more than 2000 revs and I get about 0.8 bar boost. It's well down on power. The big unknown is if it's the correct size turbo as it has never performed as it should and the turbo is a replacement unit.

I guess out of gear it will do 2.7+k rpm, right?
and I also suppose the prop is right for the hull/engine combo?
did you remove the air filter and checked with engine turned off, how the vanes spin?

wonder if you can post pics before reaching a set number of posts, would be nice to see how yours is setup.
hardly an expert, but the pics I've seen online all look v.similar, exhaust manifold this square in section oblong thing, turbo bolted on top, wastegate a bit further away.

I have tried with the air filter removed, also with the exhaust open just after the turbo. The compression is good, the injectors were rebuilt not that long ago. The fuel pump was also rebuilt very recently. The gearbox ratio and prop means if anything it's under proped and should rev more easily. I haven't been brave enough to see what revs the governor cuts in at but I did take it up to 2300 rpm. The maximum revs it does on the water is just over 2000 and black smokeIMG-20191216-WA0011.jpgIMG-20191216-WA0012.jpgIMG-20191216-WA0010.jpg. The turbo starts to give boost at around 1500rpm but only hits 0.8 bar which seems low to me. The intercooler has also been cleaned. The turbo has been striped down and is in good condition. I believe it can only be injection timing or the wrong turbo. The turbo I believe was from a 300hp sabre engine so not the correct one for the engine. No wastegate on the turbo. Next month I hope to check injection timing. If that's correct I will try and source the correct turbo but I am struggling to find what the correct one is at the moment.

Neil, this engine doesn't look like a 8061SRM33 to me, AT ALL!
did you google about and came up with something? how do you know it's 8061SRM33? The label should be where the flat piece towards the bow of the rocker cover is, try scrapping the paint there especially if you can see something like a stuck piece of aluminium there.

Not sure about the right turbo, I'd first try to establish what is this engine and then go on from there.
Edit, I just googled a bit, the short CAC is like the SRM27 pics around, so it must be a 270hp one

cheers

I can't get to the boat for a few weeks now but will try and get someone to check the engine plate for me. I think that you are correct and that it is a 270hp version.
