Aicom Auction Off their part Builds

Hang on, for a moment you made me wonder if Google could INVENT decriptions, rather than translate them! :D
The one you quoted is for the boat 62-20, while my previous summary refers to boat 75-11, because squadron asked about the 75 fly, and that's the only 75 I found in the list.
Aside from those first few lines of the description, the rest is exactly the same for every boat, and by and large the google translation gives an idea of it.
But for the 75-11, there's neither a HIN nor a registration number - in fact, the "1PS483D" in the 62-20 description is her IT reg #, which actually means that she's a used boat.

Hmmm..how can it be a used boat if it never completed its build ? Is that possible ?
Or could it once have been a complete boat , hull no1 maybe show boat which was stripped of parts for subsequent builds when they became strapped for cash?

We are mixing up things a bit, I'm afraid.
The registered boat I was talking about is the 62-20 (the one pks1702 threw into google translate).
That one looks completed, and is also described as such - albeit not in great shape.
Btw, my assumption "registered=used" doesn't necessarily mean that she has ever been used, just that she has been titled and registered to someone (which could also be the yard itself).

The one which as I understood you were interested in (75-11) is definitely not completed and I can't imagine that she might have ever hit the water, though according to her HIN the hull was moulded in 2007...

Of course, cannibalization is also a possibility - impossible to tell now for which boat and to which extent, I suppose.

Apologies I put the wrong link in Mike's mail through the Google 'mincer' :ambivalence: Confused...... you will be!

Actually I may take that back

These 56s look nearly all up together and they're not a bad price for what I presume are unused boats

Similarly this 62

I think if I was in the market for a boat, I might be tempted to take a trip to Italy to see whether there are any real bargains hiding away

Yes, those examples are interesting, although 8 years old, the prices seem interesting if largely complete.

Do we know where the boats are actually located, which airport you would need to fly into to view. How the would you get the thing back to civilization remembering its way down in the tip of Italy and the labyrinthine maze of paperwork/rules and regulations to be negotiated to extract the thing.?
Just out of interest of course.

Reaching the location (which is near Milazzo, not far from the NE tip of Sicily) is actually a bit tricky.
Purely in terms of distance, I believe that the nearer airport is REG, in mainland Italy, but that requires a ferry to Sicily.
CTA is the nearer airport on the island, but that's at least 120 km to the south, along the E coast - albeit with the breathtaking Taormina right along the road, which might be worth the trip in itself (Milazzo being also a must see, btw).
PMO is the other airport on the island which could be used, 200+ km away but with a good motorway in between, along the N coast of Sicily - and with some other places worth seeing, also along that route.

Re. bringing the thing back to "civilisation", well, someone could argue that Sicily had been civilized almost a thousand of years before Christ...
...though relatively speaking, it was probably more outstanding back in those days. :(
Anyway, regardless of your final destination, the ways to skin this cat are the usual ones: by road, by ship, or own bottom - depending on several factors, but mostly the boat size and obviously whether it can actually cruise as is or not (but I guess that just a very few of those can).

Enjoy the trip, a tour of Sicily in winter can be rewarding in more ways than one, regardless of whether you'll bring back home a boat or not! :encouragement:

Last time I looked with about an hour to go maybe 10 or so had base price offers, the first 4 or so on page 1 and the 75 fly on page 3 had a base price offer , other than that 2or 3 of the 54 /52 fly bridge has base price offers on them .

It's a shame the auction was constructed in such a complicated fashion and only in Italian , I think they may have had more success if they had English , German , versions of the details and registration process. I would have been very interested in the 75 fly but didn't have enough time to organize the right people to evaluate the boat .

The base prices were all over the place ? with multiple images of boats which were in such poor condition that nobody would offer anything for them , for the ones which probably were very good and viable projects you get just three images ? and they try to make it look very bad showing ripped and stripped instruments and missing ceilings with no feel of how the rest of the boat stacks up . If I was being sceptical I would think that some of this lack of images of the viable boats was done intentionally to put off potential bidders but maybe that's just me and sour grapes because it wasn't me getting the bargain .
