Ahoy \"Hornblower\"

Hi I am new to this site, and would be interested in any information or photos regarding any :-
22ft plywood Hornblower yachts, designed for home building by P. W. Blandford, in the 1960s.
I have been interested in these yachts since being a young boy and am now in my mid forty`s and have never seen one yet (exept, a visit to a hull of one minus deck and cabinworks, which was destined for a viking funeral aparantly). The yacht located was called the HoBo I believe.
Any information or photos would be much appreciated. Perhaps a data-base of vessel names and histories could be developed........ we will see........

This won't help your research much, but I remember the original plans and discussion around their formulation appearing in a now defunct magazine called 'Small Boat'. If I remember correctly, the magazine effectively commisioned Percy Blandford to design the boat for their readership. I think this would have been the early '70s however.

(Just had a squint at the 'Lysander' site and it's very heartening to see that Percy Blandford is still with us)

Hi Horatio, thanks for your input, I too spotted the bit on the Lysander site that P.W.Blandford was still with us and just recently celebrated his 95th birthday, well done to him.
I have a full set of plans for the HORNBLOWER, which I baught brand new and gives me the right to build one boat from them. The plans came with a production No in the 800s if I remember correctly, (so there may be a good number of them having been built), but do any still exist, (does anybody out there have any information)? There was a trailor company advertising in a popular boating magazine a number of years ago, that they could provide trailors for the HORNBLOWER so there was presumably some demand.
That was an interesting comment about the magazine, does anybody know where this magazine information could be obtained?
