Three times today.
Out for some creek crawling on a chum's lift keeler on the Medway . We thought we'd see how far up Otterham Creek we could get at low water. Reached the safe water mark and 200 metres beyond before we stuck; rising tide so backed off OK.
Then headed over to South Yantlet Creek to see if we could get right round the back of the fort. OK not quite deliberate but we grounded on the spit at the entrance. No problems up as far as the safewater mark at the other end. Seems strange but the SWM was right up against the creek side so not safe water all round. We nudged onto mud, threw anchor out and settled down to tea, the cake I'd brought and a bit of a siesta.
Still surprised what you can get away with on a lift keel

I don't think any MAB (not suggesting your chum's is a MAB) has ever gone aground accidentally. We have a supply of glass paper and varnish constantly ready and going aground is the ideal time for a steady platform. :D

There is always the risk that others may misunderstand your actions. On one occasion we were keen to get back to our then mooring in Maylandsea creek and so nudged in shortly after LW. No problem, just settled in the entrance for 1/4 hr and enough time for a cup of tea. A rat who shall be nameless, called Steve, saw us and nominated us for the grounding trophy for the year at our club.
