Could someone please give advice on winds and currents going East around the world through suez and on to Indonesia? Thanks, Philip.

Choose your months and get the relative Admiralty Routing Charts to show averaged directions / wind speeds.
IMHO you'll get some good news - It's normally up your bum down from Suez to Aden, and bad news - normally on the nose across to Indonesia.

Indian ocean Cruising Guide by Heikell.
He sailed from Turkey to Thailand and back but I don't get the
impression he enjoyed it.
It's tempting 'cos it's half the distance or less compared with westabout.
I have done some research since my boat is in the med and my brother lives in
Freemantle. South African sailors have a lot of experience of the Indian
Ocean. You could try their website, the name will come to me eventuallly!!
