The new rubber seal purchased for my volvo penta saildrive has the age clearly stamped on the upper side of the rubber -"year 2014" however the seal which I have removed has quite an amount of lettering and numbers in the same location but no obvious age reference. It does have "Volvo penta" clearly legible so i have no doubt it is genuine but is the practice of date stamping theses seals something that has come in recently? Any code breakers able to interpret the lettering on older seals?
