Hi,

Can anyone recommend specific aftermarket crankcase and oil filters for the Volvo Penta TAMD61A engine? Or does it really have to be orig. VP? Which definitely to stay clear of?

Thks in advance

Most filters have equivalents from many, many manufacturers

Look up the volvo filter number for equivalent. Google can be a good startingmplace, or any local motor factors

I am not sure if those engines' filters have pressure relief valves, but if so then do check what it should be. It seems that you can't always rely on comparison tables to be correctly matched on this point, even from highly recommended sources. Of course if the relief valve triggers, something is pretty wrong with your engine, but guess better it is at least the right pressure relief !
Inline Filters will give you plenty of options, including their "own" label. It will be a brand-stamped filter you get, just they do not specify in advance which brand. Autodoc also is a pretty complete source of belts and filters.

Thanks for all the input. Came across Inline Filters as well; though I should mention that I'm based in Germany/ the boat in Greece.

Came across Osculati fuel filters for under GBP10/ piece. One would assume they are of decent quality, since Osculati supplies many other marine goods. Might get me some of those and then Inline Filters or another source for the crankcase breather (and oil filter as well).

Thks all

I would assume the exact opposite. As you said, Osculati supply a range of marine items, they are not engine specialists. You've already been directed to motor factors as a source of good quality filters.

Thank you @penberth3, that was a good point - which prompted me to get MANN filters instead! As said, based in Germany and boat is in Greece so more sensible to source w/i EU. Would I be based in the UK, I would defo take you up on that recommendation! Thks all
