I'm planning to sail up from Zeeland to Ijmuiden (outside) then Amsterdam and on up to the Ijselmeer in August.
Advice please plus any 'must see' hints?

The normal almanac of your choice, Reeds/Macmillan in my case, plus North Sea Passage Pilot and Cruising Guide to the Nederlands will do for a start. The Dutch 1800 series charts and the ANWB guides are a must have.
Where are you going? The Zeeland area, Flushing to Dordrechtis great fun.

Entering at Flushing. First night in Michiel De Ruyterhaven, watch for cross current at springs. Sill at 1.5m depth LLWS (on entering, count number of horizontal beams on lead walls to gate: nine means you have 1m50.

From Michiel de Ruyterhaven, go 5 cables east, and enter the kanaal of Middelburg, which leads to the Veerse meer. If you have little time, go through the Veerse Meer, and get to Goes. Otherwise take it slow: lunch in Middelburg, overnight in Veere.

Have fun at the Zandkreeksluis. The Zandkreeklock in season makes the lock at St-Kats a docile animal. 7 different nationalities trying to ram each other. Hilarious.

The bridge at Goes only opens untill 2000h, and the bridge is three miles from the lock. Do not be tempted to stop in the marina after the lock, but continue to the town. Immidiately after the town bridge, turn to port. You'll find the most picturesque marina, in the middle of a park.

From Goes, Go to Willemstad on the Amer. Again a long haul through Oosterschelde and Volkenrak. Otherwise stop at St-Annaland

AFter that, you're out of my turf, but someone else will help you along, I'd guess.

BTW: another option: Go up the Westerschelde, stop in Terneuzen (my home port), and continue up to Antwerp.
