Aerial Video of our trip from Port Solent to Bembridge of our Sealine F37

Excellent video F33Man, I tried the same with my phantom 1, but it hit the guard rail on takeoff and now resides at the bottom on Alum Bay :ambivalence:

I also nearly did the same - the first time I flew the Quadcopters from the boat I didn't realise the radio antenna was erected - the quadcopter hit the antenna then crash landed on the top deck then rolled down the stair case! Luckily it didn't land in the water. The best way to take off the quadcopter is to give it full beans straight away to gain a decent amount of height along with lowering the radio antenna.

I've brought another Phantom and Go Pro and now perfected the hand launch. Haven't tried from the boat yet, but your video has inspired me to try again:)

Go for it - just make sure you test the quadcopter on land first before flying it, make sure the gps signal flashes green, also turn off your radar on boat - I don't know if the radar would cause interference however it is best to be safe than sorry....

Nice work F33! I recently got a DJI-F550 and love it. Have you done any max-speed tests of it with the boat?

For me the fun really got sucked out of flying it after discovering the rules on where the it can be flown, etc. So my plans of going to friends houses and filming them (unless the neighbours were far away)

Will upload some vids shortly, just need to get my hands on an editing suite.

What FPS / Resolution are your using to record ?

*EDIT* - No editing, just compressed the vid to 720P & put it on Youtube.

Currently I film using 1080p 60fps. Try using gopro studio to edit the film you have produced, this is what I currently use. Gopro studio is easy to use and it's free, With some editing your video would look great.

Thank you for the encouragement - tried filming some friends on their quadbikes in the paddocks the other day, have only a few snaps of good footage but will see what I can tie together.

Have just downloaded the GoPro studio and will have a play with it tonight.
I am filming at 2.7k, 25 FPS (PAL). Am really tempted to get the GoPro 4 as it will record at 50 FPS @ 2.7K. Though the technology doesn't support the video terribly well now, it will do in the future, and I'm not likely to re-live those moments again..
Also need to get a FPV setup as I'm only guessing where the camera is looking at the moment, which can make for some slightly squiffy footage.

I must comment that your video of your camera moving from the horizontal to vertical position is extremely smooth. Is this a pre-programmed switch or are you rotating a potentiometer ?

I'm very impressed with the videos posted here. There's a definite 'want one' factor with these copters.

Prices are not too scary, either. Xmas is coming!

I would strongly recommend getting one and make sure you get some training at a local shop. I purchased two Hexa-copters from ebay, still have to sell one as SWIMBO didn't approve of the second.. *ahem*, in the USA and made a B-line to a local DJI specialist. £60/hour for training on how to set it up, etc. But the money spend there was significantly less than parts needed to fix it.

The horizontal to vertical action is actually achieved manually using this lever

The footage of the Princess 42 in Cheryl Coles' latest video looks suspiciously like it was shot from a Phantom with a GoPro. Cheapskates!
Warning - bad language (and bad song!)

@F33Man - wish you told me you did this when I was berthed next to you at PS. Didn't know it was you until I saw you at the end of the original vid!

I'm sure I could have got some tips and even a small lesson on the field by PS ;-)

Hi Mat,

At the time we were beside each other I didn't have the quadcopter, sure if I am around I will happily give you a lesson and a go with my quad if you haven't already got one?

Not bought one yet but, like others, I'm thinking seriously about one esp with threads like this. How hard can it be? lol.

Anyway, haven't seen you since Cowes that avo - hope all is well. Hope to catch up soon, we're still in PS. Now on the F hammerhead.

Cheers

M

After seeing this I was certainly tempted to get one, although reading this put me off a little

being a London resident that's going to cramp my style when it comes to practicing in the back garden (got a very big back garden for London, but will still count as built-up area and hence forbidden without permission :()
